Speech Title: Decentralized Systems and the Internet of Things
Many Internet of Things protocols, systems and applications are designed under the assumption that all components, albeit distributed across many devices and users, can be operated and managed within a single, centralized, administrative domain. However, large-scale IoT applications such as for smart cities require exchanging data and computation across trust and administrative boundaries. I will describe some of the challenges in designing such decentralized IoT systems, and how they could be addressed through the development and deployment of marketplaces for data and computation, and the application of blockchain technology.

Speech Title: Multi agent systems enabling self-x manufacturing systems (for Industry 4.0)

Multi agent systems are known since long but lacked dependability and real time behavior to be beneficially in industrial manufacturing systems for long. As manufacturing systems need to be more flexible in the future not only due to changed products, but also due to crisis and short-term changes in supply chains a mechanism is required to enable this flexibility.
Multi agent systems will be introduced as a successful implementation of the so called administration shell enabling negotiation in between manufacturing systems in German Industry 4.0. The talk will introduce the concept, industrial applications on the field level and criteria for the decision whether to run MAS on the edge, fog or cloud.

Speech Title: Design of Cooperative and Collaborative Multi-Robotic Systems Using Deep Learning and Broad Learning

Deep learning (DL) has been widely investigated and applied for frontier mobile robotics. Recently, Broad learning system (BLS), proposed by Philip Chen in 2017, has been shown to work as an effective and efficient incremental learning without the need for deep architecture, thus giving a new paradigm and learning system for AI systems. By incorporating the merits of DL, BLS and intelligent navigation control methods, this talk will present you DL-based or BLS-based novel navigation control frameworks or paradigms for a class of multi-robotic systems in order to achieve desired cooperative navigation control and collaboration. In the short talk, some literature reviews about DLs and BLs are first mentioned, and then four novel DL-based or BL-based navigation control methods are briefly highlighted and demonstrated for their applications to a class of multirobots. First, cooperative localization and formation control approaches using deep and broad neural networks is proposed for a class of omnidirectional multirobots. Second, a collision-free autonomous navigation method using deep-broad learning is presented for a class of gyro-stabilized multiple ball-riding robots. Third, an intelligent formation control method using fuzzy broad learning system (BLS) is proposed for a class of tilting quadrotors. Fourth, a collaborative UAV-UGV system using YOLOv2 is proposed to navigate its working environment and perform object recognition. Last but not least, some perspective topics are recommended for future frontier research on multirobots.
